About

Hello! My name is Mary Havlicek and I am the owner of Hours by Design.

I work with business owners who want to put their businesses out there in a BIG way no matter what stage of life their business is in, from the just-starting to the well-established. In order to do that, you need to be in the right places and saying the right things, not to mention have the time to do it all.

How I solve problems:

  • Creating web content that engages and informs your readers
  • Writing copy that calls your readers to action and helps your business grow
  • Making sure content you’ve already written is squeaky-clean and of the highest quality
  • Maximizing your credibility and visibility through social media
  • Taking tasks off your hands that you just don’t have time for.

My writing experience dates all the way back to elementary school. I started reading books at a young age (around 4) and as I learned to write in school, I began to write for fun at home, too. I still have notebooks packed away in boxes full of ideas and stories that I wrote after school and during those long summers.

After spending 10 years in administrative positions in the corporate world, I started Hours by Design as a way to serve small business owners and create time for them to get back to doing whatever they love to do and don’t have time to do. I quickly realized that writing is a major need for business owners. I also realized that, although I never had an “official writing title,” I still used my writing skills in my jobs. Whether it was formulating a letter to distribute to customers, reading through correspondence to “make sure it sounded good,” or helping real estate agents craft descriptions for their listings, I had been using and honing my writing skills for those 10 years. I decided then and there to keep putting those skills to good use for my clients.

So that’s a little bit about me. What about you? I’d love to know a bit about you, where you’re at and how I can help you take things to a whole new level. Let’s talk.
